Wishing Cloth

Collectively made ritual object & space
February – March 2020

Creating a ritual object in a secular place by curating space for emotional and imaginative vulnerability

The object is based on Mickey’s spiritual practices as a hereditary Jewish Witch and Kohen (high priest), they brought the underlying spirit into the class with dates and olives (sacred fruits) and asked their peers to make a wish (an extremely common form of spell). They sealed the wishes into the ritually-made challah/altar cover which Mickey uses in ritual to this day.

Produced for a Fieldwork course on Embodiment at ECUAD
