Community Engagement Programming, Events, Interdisciplinary Audio and Visual Arts, Book-Making, Cartography, Writing…all that Mickey does is creative and care-full. They begin a project starting from where they are — Jewish, a grand & great grandchild of refugees, a settler occupying Land and Water stewarded by and in dis-placement of Stó:lō, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, Səl̓ílwətaʔ, xʷməθkʷəy̓əm nations, TransLesbian, Disabled, and other positionalities.
Mickey works primarily with themes of storytelling, Jewish Diaspora, Queering, Cripping, and altogether reimagining the ways we hold space with one another. In 2021 they graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts at Emily Carr University (ECU), majoring in Visual Arts and minoring in Social Practice and Community Engagement. During 2021-2022 they wrote Manifesto on Neighbourliness: Ethics Toolkit for Creative Community Inspiration and co-taught the course Practicing Neighbourly Responsibility at ECU as expansions upon their graduation project Mapping East Van. Mickey has facilitated workshops on LGBTQ+ inclusion and Accessibility, taught visual arts classes, has acted as an editor, and has been exhibiting their art since 2017.
